Age: 25

Nicknamed Ken Lamar, I am a professional photographer based in North-Kivu, Goma. I was taught by Michel Lunanga, a teacher at Camme RDC through the Lens on Life Project. I was born in Goma on August 7, 1995 in the North Kivu province in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the son of Joseph Kamundu and shopkeeper Kahimdo Maisha Judith. I am the oldest of the family, followed by seven other children. I live in the Karisimbi community in Goma, on the Avenue des Geometres in the Katoy quarter. I trained in photography and information technology at Camme RDC through the Lens on Life Project, obtaining a certificate of first class completion in 2018. I decided to continue the second class to have much more experience in photography. I know that with my training in photography I can succeed in life and should never suffer from financial difficulties. This motivates me to become a great professional photographer. For me, photography is important because I discover many things that I was not familiar with. For now, I am capable of doing a good job and taking pretty photographs.

Photography is a strong weapon because it gives a real view of things from multiple perspectives, but also allows us to send information and works across the world while helping others to remember unforgettable events. For me, photography is a dream. Thus, I am currently living my dream. In the past, I often looked at other photographers’ beautiful photos while I was working as an apprentice, and I asked myself, “How can one succeed in creating similarly beautiful photos?” But one day, I found the opportunity knocking at my door telling me that there was a free training course in photography. I told myself, “There you are, the opportunity.” So I said, “Let me at least try.” When I started the program, I did not know what to expect, but it is going well because of the professional staff and the works I’ve completed.
